About

The club was formed in 1988, our club philosophy is to create a community of mountain bikers for the promotion and enjoyment of mountain biking in the area of Christchurch. We organise rides locally and around NZ to meet new riding companions and discover new trails. Our club is a fun social group of friends who motivate each other to ride more, improve fitness and riding ability.

We are a not for profit club, with your membership fees going back into helping develop our sport. We donate to local tracks and other tracks in NZ we regularly ride on, or wish to see developed. We encourage members to attend working bees to help maintain local tracks. We aim to be a voice for the sport, advocating the development of new trails and gaining mountain bike access to current trails. The club is run by volunteers so any help you can offer such as by being a ride leader or by being a voice on the committee will be very much appreciated.

Our club rides run fortnightly Sundays, alternating between a local Christchurch ride and an ‘away ride’ around the Canterbury area or trips within NZ. Rides are planned on a variety of track grades so we cater for all levels of expertise. We are a social riders club, so our club rides are run sticking together as a group. Once a member of the club you will have access to our club Facebook page where all members can advertise their own (not club organised) rides.

The Canterbury Mountain Bike Club is great for all abilities, so join up to get motivated, explore new trails, meet like minded mountain bikers, support your local tracks and learn new skills!
